Third phase of BTAP & China Charity Auction begins

1 Jan 2013 by ReggieHo

Phase 3 of the Business Traveller Asia-Pacific and China Silent Auction 2012 is now open for bidding, and will continue for the whole month of January.

For the seventh year running, we are partnering with Chi Heng Foundation in the annual Silent Auction to raise funds to support initiatives that help children and youngsters in China whose lives have been affected by HIV/AIDS. They come from families living in economically disenfranchised villages, and their parents, desperate to make ends meet, participated in illegal blood donations and were infected by the deadly virus because of tainted needles.

During its 2011-12 programme, Chi Heng sponsored 9,000 of these youngsters to provide them with living costs and, more importantly, education. This coming year, the organisation is hoping to increase the number to 10,000, mostly through expanding its reach beyond central China into southwestern parts of the country.

Chi Heng also plans to expand its Reading Room project by spending half of the funds raised in 2012-13 on two new facilities in central China. One of these is going to be the biggest ever, and it is set to break ground some time in 2013.

As in previous years, the Silent Auction 2012 will be held in four phases. The packages featured have been generously donated by industry friends and partners, and the funds we raise from the bids will be given to Chi Heng to support its work.
