Emirates to take delivery of 30th A380

12 Dec 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Emirates will add a total of five new aircraft to its fleet this month, including three new superjumbos and two Boeing B777 aircraft.

It means that by the end of this year Emirates will count 30 Airbus A380s within its fleet, a third of the carrier’s firm order of 90 superjumbos (see online news June 8, 2010).

Emirates has already taken delivery of one new A380 and one B777 this month, with a further three aircraft set to join the fleet before the end of the year.

It will take the carrier’s Boeing B777 fleet to 119 aircraft. Emirates has already launched two new routes to Lyon and Phuket this month, and will add services to Warsaw and Algiers in the first quarter of next year.

Commenting on the arrival of the new aircraft, Adel Al Redha, Emirates executive vice-president of engineering and operations said:

“Adding a single new aircraft into the fleet, for any airline, requires careful planning and good logistical support. However, adding five new aircraft over the course of one month is a true achievement.

“Notwithstanding the precise planning that takes place in inducting these aircraft into the network, none of this would be possible without our professional team of flight crew, cabin crew, engineering, airport and ground operations personnel.”
