Hilton to open in Manila

10 Dec 2012

Hilton Hotels & Resorts are planning to open their first property in the Philippine capital of Manila in 2014.

“Manila is the political, economic, social and cultural center of the Philippines and a leading gateway destination in Southeast Asia,” said Andrew Clough, senior vice president, development for Hilton Worldwide in the Middle East & Asia Pacific.

"[The opening of the new hotel] fully demonstrates our ongoing commitment to growing aggressively in Asia Pacific and re-establishes both Hilton Worldwide’s and the Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand’s presence in the Philippines."

The 350-room Hilton Manila will be located on Newport Boulevard next to Terminal 3 of Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The surrounding area is home to several multinational corporations, while Manila’s major business districts, such as Makati, are all less than 4km away.

The hotel will be connected with a 30,000 sqm entertainment and hospitality complex. It will also have an all-day dining restaurant, a speciality restaurant and separate bar. There will be a fitness centre together with indoor pool and spa. For meetings, the hotel will have a large ballroom together with several smaller rooms.

Hilton previously had a hotel in the heart of Manila between 1967 and 1988. The group also operated a hotel in Cebu between 2005 and March 2011.

Recently Manila has begun seeing the arrival of several new high-end hotels, with the opening of the Fairmont Makati at the start of this month (see here) and the Raffles Manila due to open shortly (see here).
