Lufthansa has announced plans for long haul premium economy seating. As reported on businesstraveller.com earlier this year (see online news April 23), Lufthansa had previously rejected the idea of premium economy, but was forced to reconsider it "in line with market demands" according to a spokesperson. As recently as last week in conversation with Christian Schindler, Lufthansa’s director for the UK and Ireland, the subject was again noted as being "under serious evaluation." It appears that evaluation will continue. In a release today, Lufthansa says that it will form a project group for the introduction of premium economy at the beginning of next year "...to manage the introduction and define the precise features of the product as well as a detailed timetable." Lufthansa says development "will take about two years... and will equip the entire Lufthansa intercontinental fleet." Visit lufthansa.com.
