Plaza Premium Lounge, the global airport lounge operator, has opened a pay-to-use lounge in the domestic departure hall of Penang International Airport in Malaysia.
The new lounge is 2,660 sqm, can seat 70 people and features Plaza’s signature velvet sofa chairs and two long counters for dining. There is also a private room available at no extra charge but needing advanced booking.
Two workstations are available which have a small desk space, office chair and laptop computer with a high-speed internet connection.
Food and drink options include an all day buffet, serving a hot continental breakfast in the morning and two hot dishes throughout the day, with salads, snacks and deserts also available. There is also a noodle bar serving Penang fish ball noodles all through the day.
The lounge’s bar offers a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and has a barista making coffee using beans from Java.
There is also a shower room with complimentary toiletries, use of which is included in the lounge access fee.
The lounge is located opposite the security screening area in the domestic departure hall. It is open from 0500 until 2400 each day. Using the lounge for two hours costs RM128 (US$42), while five and 10 hours costs RM168 (US$55.2) and RM188 (US$62) respectively.
The lounge is Plaza Premium’s sixth to open in Malaysia. Earlier this year, the group reopened its lounge in the international departures area of Kuala Lumpur International Airport following a complete overhaul (see here).
