Virgin Atlantic has signed a Letter of Intent with communications provider ARINC to offer wifi internet access on board its new A330 aircraft from early next year.
The carrier says it will initially trial the Cabin Connect service on three of its A330-300s in early 2013, with passengers logging on to the system through a hotspot portal. It's not yet clear how much Virgin will charge for the service.
Virgin will be the first airline to offer the Cabin Connect system, having previously partnered with ARINC to provide live in-flight news content.
The carrier launched the first of its new A330-300 aircraft in April last year (see online news April 2, 2011), offering a two-class configuration, followed by a three-class layout featuring Virgin’s new Upper Class suite (for a review of the product click here).
