Garuda opens premium check-in zone at Jakarta airport

12 Sep 2012

Garuda Indonesia has opened a special check-in area for its premium passengers at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

An entirely seperate area from the regular check-in desks, the premium check-in can be used by all the Indonesian flag carrier’s executive class passengers and Garuda Frequent Flier (GFF) platinum members.

It has exclusive counters, where passengers can check in, upgrade their seats, pay their airport taxes, make another reservation, purchase new tickets or re-route their flights.

Executive class passengers are given numbered tickets, and they are invited to make use of the lounge-style seating while waiting for their numbers to be called. GFF platinum members are attended by personal service assistants, who will take care of the check-in procedure while guests sit in comfort.

Other airlines that have recently launched specialised premium check-in services include Malaysia Airlines at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (see story here).

Changi Airport has a premium check-in lounge, used by airlines including Korean Air, ANA and Etihad (see story here).
