Luxury hotel group The Ritz-Carlton is to open its first property in Tunisia in late 2014.
The Ritz-Carlton Tunis will be located in the Carthage-Sidi Bou Said suburb of the capital, with its own beachfront overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and next to the presidential palace.
The hotel will feature 129 suites, seven food and beverage options, a ballroom and spa facilities.
COO and president Herve Humler said that the group was also exploring “other opportunities and destinations in the Middle East and Africa”, with expansion in the region “an essential part of our future strategy”.
Ritz-Carlton recently opened its first Austrian property in the capital Vienna, featuring 202-rooms, a rooftop bar and an 18-metre indoor swimming pool (see online news August 27).
