The Hong Kong-based Kosmopolito Hotels International will open its third hotel in Mainland China in the fast-developing western city of Chengdu next month.
The Grand Dorsett Hotel Chengdu has 556 guestrooms and suites all equipped with iPad docks and free wifi internet access.
It has eight meeting rooms, along with a multi-function hall that can be divided into two smaller banquet rooms.
There is also a tea lounge, chess house and karaoke facilities, together with a gym and spa.
The hotel is located in the Luomashi area of the city close to the main focal point of Tianfu Square and within the central business district.
The nearby Luomashi metro station, on line 1 of the Chengdu Metro, provides easy travel to Financial City where many of the city’s banking and financial services companies are located.
Metro line 1 also links the hotel to the Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Zone, a centre for science and technology with over 29,000 companies.
Chengdu is undergoing rapid development with surging investment from foreign firms. Companies including Microsoft, Nokia, IBM, SAP, Symantec, Motorola, Ubisoft, Accenture and Siemens are based in the city, according to government website chengduinvest.gov.cn.
International financial companies including J.P. Morgan, HSBC and Citibank have established a presence. It has also become a base for e-commerce firms including Alibaba and Amazon, and e-commerce trade is projected to hit US$50 this year.
