Less than six months after the launch of its all-business class flights to Gatwick, Hong Kong Airlines has closed out reservations from September 3, leading to speculation it is to drop the route.
The carrier launched flights between Gatwick and Hong Kong this March, using Airbus A330 aircraft configured with Club Classic and Club Premier seating (see online news March 8).
But travellers attempting to book flights online after September 3 will find that all services now show as being “Sold Out”, and a poster on the Business Traveller forum has reported the carrier cancelling services at short notice.
There has been no official word from Hong Kong, but a spokesperson for the carrier in the UK said that:
“We have been advised that [Hong Kong Airlines] are evaluating the route and as part of this, the bookings have been closed out in the system”.
Business Traveller has reviewed the carrier’s Club Premier service several times since its launch – to read these reviews click here.
