Air Asia X to introduce quiet zone

30 Jul 2012

Air Asia X is launching a quiet zone on its A330 fleet starting February 2013. Passengers who are 13 or above and are not travelling with infants or children aged 12 or below are eligible to book seats in the quiet zone.

The quiet zone will be located between rows 7-14, which are the first seven rows of economy cabin, right behind the premium economy seats. It is hoped that noise and disturbances will be minimal in this area.

Reservations are now open. To reserve a seat at the quiet zone, choose the ‘pick-a-seat’ option while booking. The standard fee for selecting seats in the economy class is RM35 (US$11), and RM110 (US$35) for hot seats located on row 7 (the first row of economy).

Air Asia X is not the first carrier to introduce child-free areas. Previously, Malaysia Airlines stirred up heated debate by implementing a baby ban for the first class of its A380 fleet (see story here) as well as child-free cabin on business class and A380 upper deck economy.
