Best Western creates "super hotel" in Manila

27 Jul 2012

Best Western has merged three of its properties in Manila into a new "super hotel" – Best Western Plus Antel. The merger involves former Best Western Antel Spa Suites, Best Western The A Venue Suites and Best Western Plus Serenity Suites.

The three buildings, according to a spokesperson of the hotel, have been adjoined by an added structure on the fifth floor, where a resort-type pool, a pool bar and a children playground are located. Although the rooms, lobbies and other areas have not changed, amenities have been upgraded across the board to the standard of the Plus line.

In addition to the usual offerings such as breakfast, complimentary internet, free local calls and in-room coffee and tea maker, Best Western Plus, as the hotel group's mid-scale brand, offers better bath products, in-room fridge, gym, laundry and dry cleaning services, a more spacious work desk and business centre. On top of that, Antel features 210 non-smoking rooms with balconies as well as kitchenettes with refrigerators and microwaves.

There are eight function rooms, three lobby lounges, two restaurants, two swimming pools, two fitness centers, spa, games room, and a children’s playground. The event spaces can accommodate up to 120 delegates.

Situated in the modern Makati business and entertainment district of the city, this new super hotel is the first Best Western Plus property in the Philippines. Uniting the three hotels will enable the brand to offer upgraded facilities and amenities, including free wifi access throughout the property, multi-function shower and iPod docking station, the spokesperson added.

The merger also enables the hotel to better focus its resources, said Glenn de Souza, Best Western International’s vice-president international operations – Asia and the Middle East.

Best Western’s expansion in the Philippines it set to continue at pace, with firm plans to expand into Cebu and Angeles City.
