SAS to launch Copenhagen-San Francisco route

17 Jul 2012 by BusinessTraveller

SAS will offer a six times-weekly service between Copenhagen and San Francisco from April next year, and will also add a three times-weekly evening flight to New York.

The new San Francisco route will launch on April 8, 2013, with the Scandinavian carrier saying that “A large number of international and Nordic companies have expressed a strong desire for a direct service between the US West Coast and the Nordic countries”.

Flights will depart Copenhagen daily except Tuesday at 1225, arriving in San Francisco at 1424, with the return leg leaving the US city at 1725, landing in Denmark at 1315 the following day.

It will be the only direct, non-stop service between northern Europe and San Francisco, and SAS hopes to carry 125,000 passengers per year on the route.

The carrier will also bring back its evening flight from Copenhagen to New York Newark on April 1, 2013, departing on Monday, Thursday and Friday at 1825 and arriving into Newark at 2050. The return leg will leave New York at 2300 and land back in Copenhagen at 1315 the following day.

SAS' existing US services include Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm to New York, Copenhagen and Stockholm to Chicago and Copenhagen to Washington DC.
