Me London opening delayed to the end of the summer

17 Jul 2012 by BusinessTraveller

The first UK property under Melia International's Me by Melia brand had been due to open on July 15, but the group's Twitter page says the opening "has been changed until the end of the summer".

Me London is located at the corner of the Strand and Aldwych, and had been scheduled to open in time for the Olympics (see online news September 14, 2011), despite suffering fire damage in June last year.

Only last month Melia posted on its Me by Melia Twitter page that the hotel would open on July 15, but a post left on July 11 states:

"Hello everyone! The opening for ME London has been changed to the end of the summer. Stay tuned for details!"

The 156-room hotel will feature a pyramid-shaped lobby area, fitness and business centres, complimentary wifi throughout, a rooftop bar with views of Somerset House and the Thames and a food and beverage offering from fashionable New York restaurant, STK House.
