Singapore Airlines’ low-cost offshoot Scoot "for the young-at-heart" will launch its fifth route, to Taipei, a month ahead of schedule.
The new flights, originally planned to start in October 2012, will commence from September 18 with a Boeing 777 aircraft. Operating three times weekly, on Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday, the flights depart Changi Airport’s Terminal 2 at 0105 and arrive in Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport at 0540. The return leg will depart Taiwan at 1540 and arrive back in Singapore at 2010.
Frequency of the service will increase to daily from October 29. Subject to regulatory approval, the airline plans to extend its service to Tokyo’s Narita International Airport.
Campbell Wilson, Scoot chief executive, said that Taipei, being a bustling metropolitan city offering eating, shopping, cultural activities and access to outdoor activities throughout the year, would appeal to his target passengers.
