Firmdale reopens Dorset Square Hotel

20 Jun 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Boutique London property the Dorset Square Hotel has reopened following the reacquisition and refurbishment of the hotel by original owners Tim and Kit Kemp.

Located on Dorset Square opposite Baker Street tube station, the 38-room hotel was originally opened in the 1980s by the Kemps, founders of Firmdale Hotels, and was subsequently sold “to allow for other projects”.

The husband and wife team have now reacquired the hotel, and completed a refurbishment project, with design elements including “bold colours, contrasting fabrics and one-off art pieces and furnishings”.

A member of the Design Hotels portfolio, the hotel features a drawing room with open fireplace, the Potting Shed bar and restaurant, and guest rooms with marble and oak bathrooms featuring freestanding showers.

Firmdale Hotels operates seven properties in London including the Haymarket Hotel, Covent Garden Hotel and Soho Hotel, as well as the Crosby Street Hotel in New York (for a review of this property published in December 2009, click here).
