Melia to open Chongqing property

18 Jun 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Melia Hotels International has announced its third Chinese property, a 280-room hotel in the south western Chinese city of Chongqing.

The five-star Melia Chongqing will be located around 20 minutes from the city centre, on Tie Shan Ping mountain, and will feature three restaurants.

The group currently operates the Gran Melia Shanghai, with the Gran Melia Xian scheduled to open in 2013.

Melia is set to open its second London property next month, with the 157-room Me London located at the corner of The Strand and Aldwych.

The Fosters and Partners-designed hotel was delayed by a fire last year (see online news June 14, 2011), but is now set to open in time for the start of the London 2012 Games.
