Qatar Airways (QR) has signed agreements with a number of leading hotel groups to allow members of its Privilege Club loyalty programme to earn miles while staying at more than 3,700 properties around the world.
The largest of these new hospitality partners is Marriott International, which has 3,600 hotels under brands such as The Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott, Renaissance Hotels, Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Courtyard by Marriott and Marriott Vacation Club. There are six Marriott properties in Doha, the airline’s home base. The other notable names in the list are Fairmont, which manages some 60 luxury hotels including London’s The Savoy, The Plaza in New York and the Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai; Jumeirah Group, famous for its 16 high-end hotels and resorts; Raffles Hotels & Resorts; and Swissôtel.
QR has recently opened Oryx Galleria, a walk-in-store spread over two floors and located near Doha International Airport, as a convenient place for its loyalty programme members to use their Qmiles beyond getting reward flights. The 600 branded products range from fashion apparels and accessories, fragrances and luxury watches to electronics, toys and luggage. A Mini Cooper can be redeemed for about 7.5 million miles.
The past 12 months have seen the ambitious airline touch another milestone in its network expansion, with 15 new destinations added including Baku in Azerbaijan and Zagreb in Croatia. Ten more are to come, including Perth, Helsinki, Yangon and Baghdad. The airline currently has a 105-strong fleet.
