SAS to launch Birmingham-Stockholm route

6 Jun 2012 by BusinessTraveller

SAS is to launch six times-weekly flights between Stockholm and Birmingham from October 29. The route will be served everyday except Saturday, using B737-600 aircraft configured for 120 seats.

Hans Dyhrfort , SAS regional general manager for the UK, Ireland & Iceland, said that with existing flights from Heathrow and Manchester, and a seasonal service from Edinburgh, the new Birmingham route would see the carrier “closing up the geographic gap that we had in the area”.

Dyhrfort added that the new flights would give SAS “the opportunity to better serve West/East Midlands businesses as well as leisure communities”.

Flight SK2554 will depart Birmingham at 1330 Monday to Friday (1340 on Sunday), with the return leg SK2553 leaving the Swedish capital at 1115 Monday to Friday (1125 on Sunday).

There are currently no direct flights between Birmingham and Stockholm– SAS also offers flights from Birmingham to the Danish capital Copenhagen.
