Japan Airlines has announced it will be serving a special food item from MOS Burger onboard select flights between June 1 and August 31.
As part of its Air Series in which the carrier ties up with famous Japanese food chains, the carrier will now be serving the speciality MOS Rice Burger Kinpara that uses steamed rice patties, instead of bread, to sandwich a filling of vegetables and chicken sautéed in light soy sauce and miso paste. The filling includes burdock, lotus root, carrot, oyster mushrooms, black sesame and chilli pepper.
MOS is representative Japan's knack for revolutionising a foreign idea into one of its own. The rice burger was launched at the end of 1987 and has since been a hit. The company has shops all over the region, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Indonesia.
The burger will be served on select flights to Europe and the US in all classes. It will be served as part of the second meal for economy and premium economy passengers and listed in business and first class menus as an à la carte item.
