Luxury hotel group Ritz-Carlton is to open its first property in Vienna later this year, a 202-room hotel housed within four 19th century palaces in the Austrian capital.
The Ritz-Carlton Vienna is located on the city's Schubertring, and is scheduled to open in “late summer 2012”.
Facilities will include Dstrikt restaurant for “upscale Austrian cuisine”, the seventh floor Ritz-Carlton Club for guests staying in Club Rooms, a spa with six treatment rooms and a 18-metre indoor pool, 900sqm of conference space, and a rooftop terrace.
It will be the first Austrian property for the luxury hotel brand, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marriott International. Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts had originally been set to manage the property, but the lease agreement was terminated in early 2011.
Ritz-Carlton recently announced a 150-room extension to its Ritz-Carlton Dubai property, and staying in the Middle East region the Ritz-Carlton Grand Canal Abu Dhabi is scheduled to open later this year (see online news May 14).
