Mandala Airlines launches second international flight

8 May 2012

Indonesia-based Mandala Airlines, which only resumed operations last month with fresh investment from Indonesian firm Saratoga Group and Tiger Airways (see story here), has launched its second international flight, to Kuala Lumpur.

The daily flight departs Jakarta at 1515, arriving in Kuala Lumpur at 1830, and the return leg departs at 1930 on the same day, arriving back in Jakarta at 2030.

This flight follows the launch of the carrier’s first international service between Jakarta and Singapore, which commenced on April 20, 2012. The carrier also connects Jakarta with Medan and Medan with Singapore.

With a 33 per cent share holding, Tiger Airways stepped in to help the previously debt-laden carrier reorganise finances and maintain its no-frills business model. As a result, the carrier has been rebranded and integrated with Tiger Airways’ operations in order to provide guests with the flexibility to choose from two destination networks and access to Tiger Airways’ Stripes programme for special deals on hotels and flight tickets.
