Singapore Airlines has announced it will expand its selection of audiobooks on its inflight entertainment (IFE) system, in partnership with the National Library Board.
The carrier will initially start off with 13 offerings, including classics such as Dracula by Bram Stoker, Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and The War Of The Worlds by HG Wells, relieving passengers from the hassle of packing their own books or eBooks.
“While audio books have been a feature in our inflight entertainment offering for some time, this new selection of titles recommended by the National Library Board has broadened our range of fiction books,” said Tan Pee Teck, senior vice president of products and services at Singapore Airlines.
The list of books will be updated monthly and can be viewed on the carrier’s website under the “new audio albums” section.
The carrier has consistently been upgrading its IFE system to stay ahead of the curve. Previously, it introduced electronic versions of almost 20 international magazines and newspapers, including Bloomberg Businessweek and The Wall Street Journal Magazine (see story here).
