Asia’s first Legoland Hotel to open in Malaysia

27 Apr 2012
Asia's first lego-themed hotel will be built next to the Legoland theme park, which is set to open in September in Johor, Malaysia. Construction is set to begin on the 249-room Legoland Hotel Malaysia, which, though made out of conventional building materials, will be designed in a fun and interactive way. Guestrooms will be categorised into different themes, such as pirate, kingdom and adventure. Expect lego decorations throughout the hotel's interiors, including the public areas and restaurants, which are designed from an imaginative "child’s eye view". When the hotel opens in 2014, it will look much like the other Legoland Hotels located in England and Denmark. There might be things like treasure troves of lego in the guestrooms, but the standard of the facilities and services are no child's play, said Siegfried Boerst, general manager, Legoland Malaysia. "It is a 4-star hotel that any business traveller would be comfortable in. There are meeting rooms fully equipped with meeting facilities, which are suitable for corporate events." He added: "Legoland Hotel would be the ideal venue for a management retreat or team-building programme." Being located 20-minutes away by car from Senai International Airport, Johor Bahru, makes for convenient connections to Singapore and beyond. Legoland Hotel Malaysia is the latest in a trend where the fun and trivial are integrated into travel products and services - Hello Kitty-themed planes being another element of this.
