Singapore Marriott was relaunched today after a US$28 million refurbishment – the largest in the Orchard Road landmark’s 17-year history. This makeover has brought the total amount spent on this 5-star property to US$104 million.
All guestrooms have been kitted out with new bathrooms and amenities, including 46-inch HD Smart TVs and signature 1956 Eames desk chairs. Two room categories, premier deluxe rooms and studio rooms, have enhanced the inventory.
Veteran design team Hirsch Bedner Associates converted the hotel's traditional-style lobby into a contemporary open plan area, and improved its F&B offerings by installing more seats and a show kitchen to the Marriott Café and adding Java+ which guests a premium deli option.
“Our goal for this project was not merely to renovate an attractive building or to fill its rooms with visitors, but also make a strategic investment into ‘Destination Singapore’… It is our contribution to ensure that Orchard Road remains the heart of the city,” general manager Antony Page said at the unveiling ceremony which took place today.
