Swiss to fly London City to Basel

24 Apr 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Travellers to and from Basel can avoid the Heathrow queues by taking a new Swiss service from London City (LCY).

Starting on May 21, Swiss will launch twice-daily flights departing from LCY at 0825 and 1945. The inbound services depart Basel at 0715 and 1825. Flights are operated by RJ100 jets.

Felix Rodel, the Swiss manager for the UK and Ireland, said:

“Swiss International Airlines’ first priority is to serve our passenger needs. This means we are adapting our schedules according to passenger demand. The new route will ensure faster travel between the two cities owing to the close proximity of both airports to city centres and business districts.”

Swiss and Crossair (a Swiss commuter carrier which was absorbed into Swiss Airlines) have been fans of LCY for over 20 years. Besides the new Basel service, Swiss already flies from LCY to Zurich up to seven times a day and to Geneva up to four times a day.
