Hotel Indigo comes to Xiamen

23 Apr 2012 by ahmarshah
Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened its second Indigo branded property in China – the Hotel Indigo Xiamen Harbour. The 128-room property is located adjacent to Zhongshan Pedestrian Street in the Siming district, approximately 20 minutes from the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Centre and Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport. Staying true to the Hotel Indigo design template, the hotel boasts a mixture of traditional Fujian design with contemporary features while also drawing upon landmarks in the neighbourhood. Each room is decorated with a hand-painted oil piece reflecting a different neighbourhood icon, alongside free wifi internet access and other basic room amenities. On the premises can also be found a gym, a business centre, one dining outlet – Quay – and two meeting rooms. The Hotel Indigo brand debuted in the region through Shanghai in 2010 and was planning to open its second property in the region in Hong Kong (see story here) although an exact opening date for the Hong Kong property has not been revealed. A renowned port city, Xiamen will see the arrival of several more international hotel brands within the next two years, including a Langham Place (see story here) and a Westin (see story here).
