SilkAir, Singapore Airlines’ regional subsidiary, has announced it will launch thrice weekly flights to Hanoi on June 5. These, combined with SIA’s daily flights, are to bring the total number of flights to 10 per week between the sister carriers.
SilkAir will operate the flight on every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday using an Airbus A320-200 aircraft. It will depart Singapore at 1515, arriving in Hanoi at 1735, while the return leg will depart at 1830, touching down in Singapore at 2250.
Tan Chik Quee, senior vice president of marketing for Singapore Airlines, said: “Singapore Airlines and SilkAir have always sought to increase the synergy in our combined network.”
Though it is rare for two carriers within the same family to fly to the same destinations, a spokesperson from SilkAir stated that the decision was taken to "better match capacity to demand and give customers more choice of flight timings."
