James Park Associates has been commissioned to design new flagship lounges for Air China in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Chongqing.
The design agency – responsible for recent projects including Gulf Air’s lounge at Heathrow T4 (see online news March 3, 2011) and Cathay Pacific’s new business class product (see online news December 7, 2010) – is creating business and first class lounges at Beijing and Chengdu airports, due to open this spring.
The group will also design a further Phoenix lounge at Chengdu, for use by members of Air China’s Phoenix frequent flyer scheme, along with business and first class lounges at Chongqing.
According to a release JPA has “re-imagined the look and feel of American Airlines’ First Class, Business Class and Main Cabin sections and also created the aircraft interior’s unique self-service bar – a first for any U.S. airline – and the galley from a design, trim and finish perspective”.
