With the sale of Bmi to IAG now approved by the European Commission, BA is to begin selling selected Bmi flights at ba.com, with a codeshare agreement also allowing passengers to earn Avios.
Business Traveller was alerted to the news on our forum, and the homepage of ba.com has a link confirming that from tomorrow (April 5), Bmi flights to the following destinations will be available for sale via the BA website:
- Yerevan (Armenia)
- Baku (Azerbaijan)
- Addis Ababa (Ethiopia)
- Tbilisi (Georgia)
- Almaty (Kazakhstan)
- Freetown (Sierra Leone)
The link states that “When booking on ba.com, these routes will have a BA flight number but will clearly state that they are operated by Bmi”.
From tomorrow members of the British Airways Executive Club will also be able to earn Avios and tier points when travelling on the above routes under a BA flight number.
The EU Commission approved the purchase of Bmi by BA’s parent company IAG last week (see online news March 30), subject to several conditions including the relinquishing of 14 pairs of Heathrow slots to competitors. IAG said that it anticipates the purchase completion to take place around April 20.
