Thai Airways to offer wifi on A380s

29 Mar 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Thai Airways is to offer wifi internet access and mobile phone capabilities on its forthcoming A380 aircraft.

The carrier is set to take delivery of the first of six superjumbos later this year, which will be equipped with On Air’s in-flight connectivity services.

Thai Airways will also offer the service on its new A330 aircraft, the first of which was delivered last year (see online news March 28, 2011).

It’s not yet clear how much the carrier will charge for in-flight internet access, but Thai Airways said that passengers will be able to use mobile phones “in exactly the same way as they do when roaming abroad, for calls, text messages, email and mobile data”.

The first Thai Airways A380 aircraft made its maiden flight from the Airbus headquarters in Toulouse earlier this month (see online news March 6).
