Finnair has announced it will enter a codeshare agreement with oneworld partner Cathay Pacific Airways on flights between Hong Kong and Ho Chi Minh City.
According to a statement from the carrier, the pact will begin from the start “of the summer schedule season”, although an exact date has not been provided.
The codeshare will see Finnair’s “AY” code on Cathay Pacific’s daily flights from Hong Kong to the Vietnamese city, which departs Hong Kong at 1620, arriving in HCMC at 1750. The return leg departs HCMC at 1855, arriving back in Hong Kong at 2235.
Finnair has been trying to strengthen its commitment to the rapidly growing Asian market with new routes, such as the flight to Chongqing (see story here), codeshare agreements, such as this one and a similar agreement with Bangkok Airways earlier this year (see story here), as well as increased frequencies. It aims to operate 140 flights to and from Asia per week by 2020 (see story here).
