Legoland opens hotel to business

20 Mar 2012 by Tom Otley

The Legoland Windsor Resort Hotel opened its doors this weekend. The 150-room is situated just 20 minutes from London Heathrow in the middle of the 15-acre Legoland Windsor Resort, and offers corporate and entertaining spaces with contemporary conference facilities for up to 320 delegates, plus three separate syndicate rooms each seating between 12-35 people.

The hotel features some 1,600 models, made by a team of 45 Lego model makers, with the largest being a 100kg, six-metre long fire-breathing dragon perched in a tower outside the entrance to the hotel.

In addition, delegates and hotel guests are greeted by a wall made from 5,000 5cm tall mini figures behind reception.

The Legoland “Business and Bricks programme” offers team building, tailored corporate meetings and events package as well as exclusive use of a selection of the resort’s 55-plus interactive rides, building workshops and attractions.

The hotel has both eight-hour and 24-hour delegate packages, and the hotel has a dedicated business centre, high speed wifi throughout (complimentary for delegates), a bar and lounge for informal dining and outdoor lakeside seating.

For residential meetings, delegates have a choice of themed bedrooms – Pirates, Kingdom or Adventure – all of which feature flat screen TVs, 24-hour rooms service, air conditioning and a mini-bar on request. The hotel also has a fitness room, swimming pool and complimentary car parking.

The purpose-built Lego Suite comprises an executive lounge, bar, business centre and a number of meeting rooms.  The smaller rooms are boardroom size and the largest room can accommodate 284 theatre style.

Meetings packages start from £65 for a day delegate rate and £190 for a 24 hour rate.

The team building events range from events in the park such as Lego Quest through to challenges building with Lego. For example Lego Architect sees teams competing to build the highest unsupported tower from Lego against the clock, while Lego Creator challenges teams to replicate a Lego model.
