Taipei-based China Airlines has announced it will add three new Japanese destinations to its expanding network from March 25 onwards, as well as increase frequencies on flights to Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka and Nagoya to meet higher demand.

The carrier will launch new flights from Taipei to Kagoshima and Shizuoka on March 25, operated by a Boeing B737-800 aircraft on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. The Taipei-Kagoshima flight departs at 0845 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and at 0930 on Sundays, arriving in Kagoshima at 1200 and 1240 respectively. The return leg departs the Japanese city at 1300 and 1340 on Sundays, arriving back in Taipei at 1410 and 1450 on Sundays.

Flights to Shizuoka will depart Taipei at 1520, arriving at 1900, while the return leg will depart at 2000, arriving at 2230.

Then on April 16, the carrier will launch a twice-weekly flight between Taipei and Toyama, also operated by the B737 on Mondays and Fridays. Flights will depart at 0740, arriving in Toyama at 1140 and the return leg will depart at 1240, arriving in Taipei at 1500.

The carrier will also add extra flights on its popular Japanese routes. China Airlines will add one additional flight per week from Taoyuan to Tokyo Narita, seven additional flights on the Taiyuan-Osaka and two on the Kaohsiung-Osaka routes. Flights to Fukuoka will go from seven per week to 14 per week and flights to Nagoya will go from seven to 11 per week.

Kagoshima, located on the southern tip of Japan, is a leisure destination known for the Sakurajima volcano while Shizuoka draws tourists for its tranquil landscape that includes mountainous terrain, rivers and lakes. Shizuoka is also a major agricultural city, farming green tea, strawberries and wasabi amongst other things. Toyama, located along Japan's Western coast, is another tourist destination that boasts great ski slopes.
