Schiphol and Charles de Gaulle launch Chinese-language app

28 Feb 2012

Schiphol and Charles de Gaulle airports have launched a simplified Chinese version of their respective mobile app to enable Chinese travellers to navigate both airports with ease.

Compatible with iPhones and Android smartphones, the mobile apps provide maps, flight status updates and public transport information. Furthermore by using text recognition software, the software can also translate airport signposts into Chinese via the phone’s camera. Both apps can be downloaded for free at the Apple App store and the Android Market.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Aéroports de Paris worked together to create the software. Otto Ambagtsheer, director of business area consumers at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, said: “Many Chinese passengers do not read or speak Engish. By means of this app, we aim to offer the growing number of Chinese passengers a warm welcome.”
