St Regis Doha to offer exclusive wine selection

22 Feb 2012 by BusinessTraveller

The new St Regis Doha will feature Vintage champagne and cigar bar, boasting an exclusive selection of wines and champagne “found nowhere else in Doha”.

Vintage is the hotel’s decadent champagne and cigar bar, with red velvet furniture and eye-catching features, such as a ceramic black puma with crystal eyes and a fire place covered in seashells.

“We have an English wine sommelier, Julian Biddulph, who has worked on Vintage’s wine list,” says Leslie Garcia-Moica, director of public relations for St Regis Doha. “We’ll have wines here that can’t be found anywhere else in Doha.”

The property has ten restaurants and bars, two of which will be Gordon Ramsay restaurants. “Gordon Ramsay” will be a fine-dining restaurant offering a different menu every day, while “Opal” will be a more informal eatery serving gourmet cuisine.

The hotel will also feature Jazz at Lincoln Centre Doha, partnered with the original New York venue, which will welcome world-class jazz musicians.

Other leisure facilities include an Olympic-sized outdoor swimming pool surrounded by ten cabanas (each with its own spa bath), a children’s pool, a Remède spa with “custom-made” treatments, and a 160-metre beach front where guests can try watersports.

The meeting facilities have a separate entrance, which feels like another grand lobby – the walls are adorned with murals of old and new Doha, painted by a local artist.  There’s an 1,850 sqm ballroom with a terrace facing the sea, four meeting rooms with daylight and a VVIP suite with a private entrance.

“We’re a business hotel within a resort environment,” says Garcia-Moica. “We’d like to see business travellers who are here for two or three days to bring their family here and extend their stay.”

The St Regis Doha is now taking bookings for stays from April 1.

Located in the West Bay area of the city, the property is a ten-minute drive from the central business district.

The décor throughout the hotel is contemporary with Middle Eastern touches; there’s a sense of grandeur combined with cream, neutral colours and discreet decoration, such as moucharabieh panels.

The “butterfly-shaped” property consists of two “mirroring” towers, housing 336 rooms, all of which have sea views, including 70 suites.

There are a total of 11 room categories, with the largest room count being Grand Deluxe (155).  These are 44sqm in size and come with free wifi and more expansive views of the sea.

In keeping with St Regis’ standards of service, each guest will have their own butler throughout their stay, who can be contacted at any time via an “E-butler service” to help with any request.
