Business travellers shun Olympic Games

16 Feb 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Only one in six Business Traveller readers have bought tickets to this year’s London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, with nearly three quarters saying they are not planning to do so.

In a recent poll of nearly 400 visitors to the Business Traveller website, just under 17 per cent said they had bought tickets to the event, with a further nine per cent saying they were still trying to do so.

But with less than six months to the opening ceremony, the vast majority of respondents (74 per cent) said they were not planning to purchase tickets. For any of you still thinking about attending an event, Business Traveller will be publishing a special report on ticketing and corporate hospitality at London 2012 in the April print edition – to subscribe click here.

The expected nine million visitors to the London 2012 Olympics are set to place unprecedented strain on the capital’s transport infrastructure - for a look at the implications for business travellers visiting London during the Games, see “Olympic Challenge” in the December / January issue of Business Traveller.

We have also created a London 2012 tag to make it easier for readers to find news and features relating to the Games – to browse our latest articles click here.
