Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai, has introduced a paperless check-in and check-out system to streamline the procedure and reduce waste paper.
All reservation details will be displayed on a tablet, which the guest will sign on – using a stylus pen – to check-in. When checking out, the guest will sign on the same tablet to finalise all the charges, with receipts immediately emailed to a chosen address.
For guests checking into a suite, the paperless check-in will take place in their room.
According to the hotel, this paperless scheme is predicted to save up to 80,000 pieces of paper annually.
Although this is the first hotel in Shanghai to implement this system, it is not the first Kerry Hotel to do so. The Kerry Hotel Beijing, which was recently rebranded and refurbished (see story here), has also switched to the paperless solution.
