Starwood Hotels and Resorts will have opened two new hotels in China by February 9, adding to its large inventory across the Mainland.
The first of the two hotels is a resort in Hainan: the 338-room Four Points by Sheraton Shenzhou Peninsula, opened in January this year. The resort is part of a larger resort complex that also houses a Sheraton property, which opened in August 2011.
The Four Points property offers five food and beverage outlets, including a Brazilian barbeque restaurant, a gym, spa, swimming pool, business centre and a ballroom measuring 1,210 sqm.
The other property, due to open on February 9, 2012, is a city property: the Westin Xian, located in the Qujiang New District – a new industrial and technology urban development located close to the city’s famous Wild Goose Pagoda. The 329-room property consists of a cluster of four buildings surrounding a large outdoor garden with a central water structure, designed to reflect the city’s heritage and culture.
The Westin Xian, in addition to five food and beverage outlets, a gym and spa, will house the Xian Qujian Museum of Fine Arts showcasing antiques and artefacts depicting China’s history, with items dating back to the Northern Qi Dynasty. For business travellers, the hotel also offers a business centre and a ballroom measuring 1,490 sqm.
These two properties add to Starwood’s current portfolio of 90 hotels in Mainland China, 21 of which opened in 2011, bringing the total number of rooms to 35,000.
