4 Feb 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Kazakhstan's flag carrier Air Astana has placed an order for three Boeing 787 Dreamliners, due for delivery from 2017, which will "enable the airline to operate routes to the United States, Australasia and Africa".

The airline has also purchased four B767-300ERs, in an order totaling US$1.3 billion at list prices. The B767s will be delivered in 2013/14, with the Dreamliner aircraft set to be delivered in 2017 and 2019.

Air Astana said the B767s "would replace the two currently leased aircraft of this type and progressively replace its leased Boeing 757s", while the B787s "will enable the airline to operate routes to the United States, Australasia and Africa, as its business plans develops".
