Following the cessation of Spanair’s operations (see story here), Singapore Airlines (SIA) has adopted measures to assist passengers that were meant to be travelling on Spanair-operated flights.
The two Star Alliance members began codeshare flights in 2010, to facilitate Singapore Airlines' flight to Sao Paulo via Barcelona, which was launched in March last year (see story here). The codeshare agreement also included Spanair’s domestic services.
Passengers that have confirmed SIA tickets issued on or before January 28 will be reaccommodated on to other airlines or provided with alternative travel arrangements.
For Spanair passengers on SIA-operated flights, the carrier “will honour bookings and continue to uplift customers.” The carrier will also waive all refund, rebooking or rerouting fees.
Despite the suspension of all Spanair operations, there are no schedule changes to the Singapore-Barcelona-Sao Paulo flight, according to a spokesperson.
