SkyTeam has launched the SkyPriority programme to ensure consistent services for first- and business-class passengers and the high-tier members of its loyalty programme.
When launched in March, the programme will ensure premium cabin passengers of member airlines and SkyTeam Elite Plus members receive the same priority services at hubs around the world, helping them streamline procedures. These services include priority check in areas, baggage drop-off facilities and priority lines at security (where possible), boarding and baggage handling.
This programme is the first of its kind to be rolled out by a global airline alliance. Initially, the services will be implemented at approximately 800 hubs, a number that will increase to more than 1000 by the beginning of 2013, although implementation timelines depend on individual member airlines.
The first few cities to receive the SkyPriority services include Amsterdam, Atlanta, Guangzhou, Nairobi, Shanghai and Taipei.
SkyTeam has been attempting to standardise and align its services since last year, after it began a consistent baggage policy in August (see story here).
