Virgin no longer wants you to pinch its pepper pots

17 Jan 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Virgin Atlantic has replaced its popular aircraft-shaped salt and pepper pots with a new design resembling a cocktail shaker, but the chrome containers will be collected after meals to stop them being taken away.

The carrier turned a blind eye to Upper Class passengers taking its previous salt and pepper pots, even adding the tongue-in-cheek phrase “Pinched from Virgin Atlantic” on the underside of the containers.

But these containers were phased out last year (see online news October 6, 2011), and the new offering - which is made of chrome and snaps apart to become individual salt and pepper shakers – will be collected by staff after each meal service, “to ensure the pots are not pinched”.

The new containers follow the launch of a new economy dining service late last year, featuring new trays, glasses, cutlery and crockery (see online news November 1, 2011).
