9 Jan 2012 by BusinessTraveller

As reported by respected industry website flightglobal.com, Air India has revealed details of the layout of its forthcoming Dreamliner aircraft, in documents inviting offers for the sale and leaseback of its first seven B787s.

Published on the Air India website on December 8, 2011, the documents reveal the aircraft will have a total of 256 seats in a two-class configuration.

The Contour Aura business class offering will feature 18 seats in a 2-2-2 layout, with a seat pitch of 74 inches, while the 238 Webber 5751 economy seats will be configured 3-3-3 and will offer a seat pitch of 33 inches.

In-flight entertainment will be provided by the Thales i800 Top Series, which according to the manufacturer’s website offers “all digital video and audio on-demand using a wireless network”.

Air India originally ordered 27 Boeing Dreamliner, although reports in October last year said that this order was to be cut to 12 aircraft. In the December documents Air India said that its first B787 was “tentatively” schedule to be delivered in January 2012.
