Belgian strike to disrupt Eurostar services

20 Dec 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Eurostar has been forced to cancel services to and from Belgium on Thursday December 22, due to a general strike taking place across the country.

The carrier says it will be unable to operate services between 2200 CET tomorrow (December 21) and 2200 CET on December 22.

All services will terminate and commence at Lille Europe station. There will be a limited replacement coach service between Lille and Brussels, but Eurostar says “demand is likely to be extremely high for these coaches and we expect both stations to become busy as a result”.

The operator is recommending that passengers booked on services to or from Belgium on December 22 (or on the 1904 departure from London on December 21), exchange their tickets free of charge onto alternative services.
