Delta will look to expand schedules at New York’s La Guardia airport, while US Airways gains slots at Washington’s Reagan National airport, following a transfer of slots between the carriers.
Under the agreement Delta has acquired 132 slot pairs at la Guardia, while US Airways has obtained 42 at Reagan National, along with rights to operate additional daily flights to Sao Paulo from 2015.
Neither carrier has yet given specific details as to how it will use the slots, but Delta said it would look to create a hub operation at La Guardia, with plans to expand and modernise its facilities at the airport, while US Airways said it would add more frequencies to existing routes from Reagan National, as well as expanding non-stop services to more smaller communities.
