Gatwick Express ends buy-on board ticket option

7 Dec 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Gatwick Express has installed new ticket gates at London Victoria and Gatwick airport stations, staffed by Customer Service Hosts, and capable of accepting smartcard technologies in the future.

As a result travellers will no longer have the option of buying their tickets on board from Monday December 12.

The operator says that “More and more customers have been buying their tickets online at gatwickexpress.com due to the great offers available, and pre-purchase is now the favoured sales channel”.

Travellers will also be able to purchase tickets from staff equipped with mobile ticket machines, or via standing ticket machines, with eight new machines being installed at Victoria and Gatwick stations.
