SAS to refit B737 aircraft

5 Dec 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Scandinavian Airlines has ordered new seating for its B737-800s, with eight aircraft scheduled to be refitted next year.

SAS said the new Recaro seats (pictured below) offer “increased comfort for customers, who [will] get additional legroom”, and will weigh around 360kg less than the current seating per aircraft, resulting in reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

A total of 1,484 seats will be fitted across eight aircraft during 2012, with SAS saying it “plans to install the seats on further aircraft the following year”. The first aircraft with the new seating will be unveiled in May next year.
