Mega Maldives Airlines has launched direct flights from Maldives to Chongqing, one of China’s fastest growing urban cities.
The carrier will operate the Boeing 767-300ER on the 7-hour flight, which will depart from Male International Airport to Chongqing’s Jiangbei International Airport (CKG) once every five days.
"As the Chinese outbound market grows at breakneck pace, an ever-increasing number of travellers from 'mega cities', such as Chongqing, want an easy and direct holiday connection with the Maldives," said Ali Faiz, marketing director for Mega Maldives Airlines.
The relatively young carrier, set up in March 2010, made Hong Kong its first international destination in January 2011. It also flies to Shanghai and Beijing, and flights to Seoul will be reintroduced in March. Future destinations on the airline’s radar include Europe and Australia.
