All Nippon Airways (ANA) has announced a merger with its wholly-owned subsidiary Air Nippon, which mainly flies to domestic destinations but also operates some short-to-medium regional routes.
The merger, which will be implemented in April 2012, will see the dissolution of Air Nippon and ANA will take over all its routes. Air Nippon currently flies from its bases in Tokyo Haneda and Osaka to various locations, including the Japanese prefecture of Okinawa, and Guangzhou and Qingdao in China.
The statement about the merger explains that the move is “to improve management efficiency through the maximisation of corporate resources” and “by consolidating overlapping duties and functions."
